Chile is the first South American country to sign a free-trade agreement with the United States. The agreement allows Chile to export 85 percent of its goods without paying tariffs to the US. One study estimates that this bilateral agreement will boost GDP by an estimated $4.2 billion in the United States and $700 million in Chile.
